Monster Energy Cuts Ties with Dillashaw
As the aftermath of his failed drug tests continues, TJ Dillashaw has lost a big sponsor, as Monster Energy has opted to cut ties with the two-time former UFC bantamweight champion.
ESPN’s Ariel Helwani was the first to report the news.
Monster Energy has parted ways with TJ Dillashaw, according to Monster’s Hans Molenkamp. The company signed him to a promotional deal in Dec. 2018. Dillashaw, the former UFC bantamweight champion, is currently serving a two-year suspension after he tested positive for EPO in Jan.

Many companies parted ways with the UFC for sponsorships after the promotion’s exclusive Reebok deal was signed in 2014 before being implemented officially in 2015. Monster Energy remained on, however, and gave out sponsorships to a few superstars, including Dillashaw, who signed a deal with the brand one month prior to his UFC Brooklyn flyweight title fight.
Now, however, Dillashaw will no longer have that privilege. He has lost sponsors and fans since receiving a two-year USADA suspension for failed tests.
It was revealed in late March that an adverse finding came up in Dillashaw’s tests connected to UFC Brooklyn, and it was later discovered he tested positive for EPO.
Dillashaw will be eligible to return to competition in January 2021.
