Mother Of Mikey & Robert Garcia Passes Away After Battle With COVID-19

The mother of former world champions Mikey and Robert Garcia has died.

Promoter Lou DiBella took to his Twitter account to announce to his followers that Mikey and Robert have lost their mother due to a battle with COVID-19. Here is what DiBella had to say on the passing of Virginia Garcia.

“My friends Robert and Mikey Garcia lost their wonderful Mom today after a battle with COVID-19. My sincere condolences and prayers are with the Garcia family. So many good people have lost so much this year. Te acompaño en este momento de dolor.”

The WBC also released the following statement.

“The World Boxing Council mourns the passing of Virginia Garcia, beloved mother of champion Mikey Garcia and trainer Robert Garcia. The entire family of the WBC and its President Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, send family Garcia, our deepest condolences, at this very sad time. Rest in peace.”

Virginia raised two world-class fighters in Mikey and Robert. Mikey is a former WBC and IBF Lightweight Champion. He is also a former WBO Featherweight and Junior-Lightweight Champion. Robert is a former IBF Super-Featherweight Champion.
