Mousasi Headlines Bellator 185

Recently, Gegard Mousasi became the latest fighter to jump from the UFC to Bellator, and now the middleweight has an official debut date set. Mousasi’s first Bellator bout will come at Bellator 185 on October 20, when he faces Alexander Shlemenko in the main event.

On the July 10th edition of The MMA Hour, Mousasi made the surprising announcement that he was leaving the UFC for Bellator. Mousasi has won his last five fights, with the most recent coming over former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 210 back on April 8.

Shlemenko, meanwhile, is unbeaten in his last seven — winning six of his last seven, including his last five straight, along with a No Contest. His most recent bout was a submission win against Brandon Halsey back on June 1 at M-1 Challenge 79 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His most recent Bellator bout came at Bellator 162 in October 2016, when he defeated Kendall Grove via second-round TKO.

Bellator 185 will also feature a light heavyweight bout between top contenders Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ, and former Bellator light heavyweight champ Liam McGeary.
