Moving Up: Ciryl Gane Is Now The No. 1 Ranked Heavyweight

On August 7, Ciryl Gane dominated in all rounds and finished his rival, Derrick Lewis in the third. This massive performance guaranteed him the mandatory fight for the undisputed heavyweight champion and allowed him to find his ranking in P4P rankings, too.

Gane holds the interim title, sending Stipe Miocic to No. 2 and Lewis from No. 2 to No. 3 in the heavyweight rankings. Gane also entered at No. 14 in men’s pound-for-pound (P4P) rankings.

But Gane wasn’t the only fighter who moved up in rankings.

Vicente Luque defeated Michael Chiesa via brabo choke in the first round, allowing Luque to climb up as a top contender. Even Kamaru Usman responded to his victory via Twitter and said they might dance soon.

Luque moved up by two positions and is now the No. 4 ranked welterweight. Chiesa went down by two positions in the welterweight division and is the No. 7 ranked contender.

Jorge Masvidal moved up by one position and holds the No. 6 position, and Stephen Wonderboy fell by one post and holds No. 5 position.
Jose Aldo, even with a fantastic performance, he is still the No. 5 ranked contender of the bantamweight division. Only Marlon Moraes and Cody Garbrandt changed their spots.

There were also changes in the women’s flyweight division.

Mackenzie Dern (#4), Tecia Torres (#9), Virna Jandiroba (#12), and Amanda Lemos (#13) moved up by one position, and Marina Rodriguez (#6), Michelle Waterson (#10) fell by one position. Angela Hill fell by two ranks.
