Munguia Alleged to Face GGG On May 5th

It seems that Gennady Golovkin’s search for an opponent on May 5th has come to a halt, as Jamie Munguia may be the one tapped for a Cinco De Mayo showdown.

Per a report from ESPN’s Dan Rafael, the undefeated Munguia and not Spike O’Sullivan, nor Billy Joe Saunders, will square off with Golovkin on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The report also states it is dependent on the Nevada State Athletic Commission approves the 21 year old to essentially be the replacement for Canelo Alvarez, who pulled out of his fight with Golovkin due to two failed drug tests.

Munguia would also need to move up in weight from junior middleweight to middleweight.
