Munguia vs. O’Sullivan Live Results
Former WBO super welterweight champion Jaime Munguia makes his middleweight debut tonight, as he takes on Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan.
The bout headlines a Golden Boy Boxing card at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
After winning his first 28 bouts, with all but one taking place in Mexico and all but three coming by KO/TKO, Munguia knocked out Sadam Ali in May 2018 to claim the WBO 154-pound title. He made five defenses of that belt, defeating Liam Smith, Brandon Cook, Takeshi Inoue, Dennis Hogan and Patrick Allotey before surrendering the title and officially announcing plans to move up and secure gold at 160.
O’Sullivan comes into this fight with eight wins in his last nine since losing a December 2015 WBA final eliminator to Chris Eubank Jr. “Spike” was last seen on a big platform during the undercard of Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez 2, suffering a first-round knockout defeat at the hands of David Lemieux. O’Sullivan was last in action in March, scoring a sixth-round finish of Khiary Gray.
