Munguia Wins WBO Junior Middleweight Title

Taking a fight on two weeks’ notice, Jaime Munguia made quick work of Sadam Ali, stopping him in the fourth round to become the new WBO junior middleweight champion.

The first round felt like a normal feeling out process for about 90 seconds until Munguia landed a hard left hand to the body, followed by a left hand upstairs to send the defending champion to the canvas in the first. While Ali got up, Munguia sent him down once more in the round thanks to a big left hook.

Munguia overwhelmed Ali with power shots throughout the second round, forcing him into retreat, wobbling him and having his back to the ropes. Ali was forced to the canvas once more as the end-of-round bell sounded. Munguia’s size was too much for Ali, and while he made it through the third without getting knocked down, the referee seemed ready to call the fight.

One more knockdown in the fourth and the referee finally stopped the bout, giving the win and title to Munguia.
