At UFC 217, inside Madison Square Garden back on November 4, Rose Namajunas provided what many consider the greatest upset in MMA, let alone the UFC, for 2017. Namajunas scored a surprising, shocking, first-round TKO to end Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s undefeated streak and win the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship.
Some have speculated that an immediate rematch with Jedrzejczyk makes sense for a first title defense, but Namajunas told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani during a recent edition of The MMA Hour that she’s looking to face any opponent that may be a scare.
“For me, who is the scariest person that I could fight, I think that would be cool,” Namajunas said. “To me, what sticks out as of right now is Jessica Andrade, but at the same time, a rematch with Joanna would be great too. I don’t know. The three options right now would be Joanna, or the winner of Jessica Andrade vs. Tecia [Torres].”
Andrade and Torres face off on Feb. 24 as part of the UFC on FOX 28 card.
In addition to talking challengers, during the interview, Namajunas talks about her jaw-dropping upset, as well as her MMA future.
