Naoya Inoue And Paul Butler Will Clash On December 13

After numerous thoughts and speculations, the undisputed bantamweight championship match between Naoya Inoue (23-0, 20 KOs) and Paul Butler (34-2, 15 KOs) is now official.

The battle will take place on December 13 at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.

Inoue has been sublime as he has progressed to the world titles at 108, 115, and 118. However, he is yet to go undisputed in a particular division. He currently possesses WBC, WBA, and IBF belts and is at the peak of his powers.

The 29-year-old clinched the IBF title after defeating Emmanuel Rodriguez in a second-round knockout in 2019. Furthermore, he added the WBA title to his CV by edging Nonito Donaire in a memorable fight.

Lastly, he won the WBC belt this June by extinguishing Donaire in the first two rounds. On the other hand, Butler doesn’t have the same winning momentum as his future opponent.

The 33-year-old was elevated from interim to world status after his win over Jonas Sultan in April. He is currently a two-time bantamweight titlist, The British boxer won the title in 2014, when he beat Stuart Hall for the IBF title.

After this win, he vacated his title and moved down to 115 lbs before getting another shot at the IBF title. However, he came out second-best against Zolani Tete in 2015.
