Naoya Inoue, the Undisputed Super Bantamweight Champion, boxes his WBA mandatory Murodjon Akhmadaliev on September 14.
Inoue knocked out Ramon Cardenas on May 4 in his previous bout to retain his undisputed title, his 11th stoppage on the spin. The Cardonas fight was the first time he had fought in the United States since 2020 where he beat Jason Maloney. The fight was also part of his first bout under his new Saudi deal, as he now returns to Japan. Meanwhile, Akhmadaliev is on a three-fight win streak, beating Luis Castillo in his last fight. His only loss came against Marlon Tapales. Inoue has reportedly agreed to fight David Picasso In December, the WBC’s number-one-ranked contender, making it vital he comes out with a win. A win also makes a future fight with fellow Japanese Junto Nakatani more likely.
