Nate Diaz vs. Anthony Pettis at UFC 241

Nate Diaz looks to be returning to the UFC for the first time in nearly three years on August 17 at UFC 241, as he is booked to face Anthony Pettis.

Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole was the first to break the news.

Diaz submitted a sample to USADA recently, indicating he hadn’t fully retired from MMA.

The UFC has previously made several attempts to get Diaz back in the cage, but Diaz has been unwilling to fight anyone he doesn’t deem a big fight. Diaz nearly returned at UFC 230 in November against Dustin Poirier, but an injury to Poirier put a halt to those plans.

After a couple of years back at lightweight, the division he won WEC and UFC titles, Pettis moved up to 170 earlier this year, knocking out former UFC title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in the main event of UFC Nashville back in March.

UFC 241 takes place from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and will be headlined by Daniel Cormier defending the UFC Heavyweight Title against Stipe Miocic.
