Nate Diaz Will Get A Fight ‘When The Times Comes,’ Dana White Says
One of the most popular fighters of the promotion, Nate Diaz, is doing his best to get a fight.
There were potential fights for Diaz including one against Khamzat Chimaev, Vicente Luque or former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier.
Diaz and Poirier have been exchanging some words on social media and increased the hype around this potential match-up. Diaz tweeted the UFC and said to “stop playing” with him and book a fight against Poirier.
However, UFC President Dana White is not in a rush to give a fight and he explained why.
“Here’s the reality. We’ve got all these guys, 750 guys under contract. I’m contractually obligated to get these guys three fights a year. We’re booked right now until May, like May 2nd, or something like that,” White said.
“Diaz will get a fight when the time comes.”
Diaz last fought in June of 2021 against Leon Edwards where he lost via unanimous decision. Before that, he also lost to Jorge Masvidal in November 2019 via TKO.
He last won in August 2019 against Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision.
