Nevada Commission To Investigate Canelo For Failed Test

After the shocking announcement that Canelo Alvarez had tested positive for performance enhancing drug Clenbuterol, the Nevada State Athletic Commission have announced an investigation into the incident.

On Monday evening, Golden Boy Boxing, who promotes Alvarez released a press statement that the Mexican star had tested positive due to the drug coming up in meat from Mexican cows. The VADA doctor in charge of testing both Alvarez and opponent Gennady Golovkin, Daniel Eichner, claimed that “These values are all within the range of what is expected from meat contamination.”

Per a report from World Boxing News, NSAC chair, Bob Bennett confirmed that they will still investigate the situation as they hold jurisdiction over the May 5th rematch at T-Mobile Arena.

“We have received the adverse analytical findings from VADA regarding Mr. Alvarez,” Bennett exclusively told World Boxing News.

”As per our standard operating procedures, we are moving forward with our investigation.

”Accordingly, it would be premature for me to make any additional statements at this time,” he added.
