Even more footage has come out of the highly-talked about Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor fight from UFC 229, and in this case, Nurmagomedov is the one doing the talking.
In the newest clip, Nurmagomedov is in top game and in McGregor’s guard, raining down punches.
“Huh? We’re talking. Let’s talk now,” Nurmagomedov said. “Let’s talk! Let’s talk!”
“It’s only business, it’s just business,” McGregor can be heard replying.
Nurmagomedov had problems with all the verbal putdowns McGregor has hurled his way, which have included comments about Nurmagomedov’s country and family. Those comments played into Nurmagomedov taunting McGregor at the end of the fight as well, and consequently the post-fight brawl. McGregor was trying to defend that his comments weren’t personal, but rather for the sake of fight hype.
This isn’t the first time that Nurmagomedov has talked to opponents while dominating them on the ground. Previously, back at UFC 205 in November 2016, he told Michael Johnson to give up because he deserved a title shot, before going on to submit Johnson with a kimura. Nurmagomedov then turned to UFC President Dana White and could be heard saying “I’m going to smash your boy,” referencing McGregor.
