Next ONE Bouts Announced For Johnson, Alvarez

The world will get another chance to see if Demetrious Johnson will move on once again in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix. They will also see if Eddie Alvarez can get his first ONE win since signing with ONE Championship. The company announced both Johnson and Alvarez have been booked for the August 2nd ONE Championship: Dawn of Heroes show. The event will be inside the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Johnson (28-3-1) will face Tatsumitsu Wada in a Grand Prix Semifinal bout, while Alvarez (29-7, 1NC) will face Eduardo Folayang. The main event will feature Johnathan Haggerty defending his Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship against Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

After losing to Henry Cejudo at UFC 227, Johnson was traded to ONE for Ben Askren. He had an impressive win over Yuya Wakamatsu in his ONE debut back in March at A New Era. He faces Wada (21-10-2), who won his last bout against Gustavo Balart via unanimous decision.

While Johnson won his bout at A New Era, Alvarez was beaten by Timofey Nastyukhin in the first round. This time, he faces former Lightweight Champion Folayang (21-7), who is also coming off of a loss against Shinya Aoki. Folayang lost his ONE Championship to Aoki last time out.

Another Flyweight Grand Prix Semifinal bout features Danny Kingad facing Kairat Akhmetov.
