Ngannou-Dos Santos Scheduled for UFC 239

A heavyweight collision between two top-ranked contenders is planned for the UFC’s International Fight Week, as Francis Ngannou will take on Junior dos Santos.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani was the first to report this bout’s scheduling, citing multiple sources.

Ngannou will come into this bout off back-to-back quick knockout wins, defeating Curtis Blaydes in 45 seconds at UFC Beijing before stopping Cain Velasquez in his return at UFC Phoenix in 32 seconds.

Dos Santos will enter on a three-fight win streak since a failed title bid at UFC 211 and suspension from USADA. Dos Santos defeated Blagoy Ivanov last July before finishing Tai Tuivasa last December and Derrick Lewis earlier this month at UFC Wichita.

UFC 239 takes place on July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is expected to be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC Light Heavyweight Title against Thiago Santos, and Amanda Nunes defending the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship against Holly Holm. It’s also scheduled to see Ben Askren and Jorge Masvidal collide in a meeting of welterweight contenders.
