Ngannou Feels One Fight Away From Title Shot

When it was Francis Ngannou’s turn to be the face of the UFC, Ngannou fell flat against then-UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic.

Now, nearly a year and a half removed from his loss at UFC 220, Ngannou feels his next fight against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 239, will open the door to another title shot.

“After the last fight I thought I would get the title fight back, but it didn’t happen, I don’t know why” Ngannou told reporters at a press conference prior to UFC 236. “I’m so happy to have the fight against Junior. He don’t have the belt, but we all know he’s a champion. We have seen him since he comes back, he looks like a champ.”

Both dos Santos and Ngannou head into International Fight Week with impressive winning streaks, but Ngannou only cares about what comes next.

“I think after this there will be no issues with the belt,” Ngannou said. “It’s the only thing that makes sense.”
