No Controversy At Shields-Habazin Weigh-In
With limited access, only one person per team allowed on the stage, and a heavy police presence, Claressa Shields and Ivana Habazin’s weigh-in went off without a hitch on Thursday.
Fighting at the lowest weight of her career, Shields stepped to the scale at 153 1/4 pounds a day before her battle for the super welterweight crown inside Ocean Resort Casino’s Ovation Hall.
Habazin, who has called Shields a bully, a thug, and an overhyped fighter, took to the scale eating ice cream and weighed in at 152 1/2 pounds.

The strict security measures were due to an incident prior to their initially scheduled October 4th fight, when James Ali Bashir, Habazin’s trainer, was assaulted by Artis Mack, Shields’ brother following their weigh-in in Shields’ hometown of Flint, Michigan.
