Nogueira’s B-Sample Comes Back Positive

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira requested his ‘B’ sample to be tested after an out-of-competition drug test administered on Sept. 27 came back positive for a diuretic called hydrochlorothiazide.

Nogueira told MMA Fighting on Wednesday that the ‘B’ sample also came back positive for the same substance.

“Minotouro”, also known as “Lil’ Nog”, was pulled from a UFC on FOX 26 clash with Jared Cannonier on Dec. 16 after being flagged by USADA, and has hired a lawyer to take care of his case. According to Nogueira, the amount of his diuretics found in his sample is “one nanogram.”

Speaking with reporters during UFC Sao Paulo fight week in October, Nogueira said he believed he failed a drug test due to tainted supplements.

“It must have been some tainted supplement because it was a small amount of diuretic,” Nogueira said.

“It’s funny because we did three tests. The first came back negative, the second was positive, and the third was negative. I’ve been taking the same supplements, that’s why we had the ‘B’ sample tested to find out what really happened.”

The 16 year veteran racked up a 5-5 record since joining the UFC in 2009, defeating the likes of Tito Ortiz, Rashad Evans and Patrick Cummins.
