Nonito Donaire vs John Casimero scheduled for August 14
The Nonito Donaire vs John Riel Casimero showdown is yet another title unification fight with World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight straps on the line.
Both Dasmariñas’ countrymen have confirmed facing each other on their social media accounts. They will lock horns on August 14.

Donaire, 38, is a more experienced campaigner than his fellow Filipino titlist. He is fresh off reclaiming the WBC strap after defeating Nordine Oubaali in May.
Casimero, 32, has had an illustrious career as well, clinching 21 of his 30 wins via knockout. Casimero, who has only four losses under his belt, donned the WBO belt after defeating Zolani Tete via technical knockout in 2019. The 32-year-old then defended the title against Duke Micah. The Filipino knockout artist was originally scheduled to exchange punches with Guillermo Rigondeaux on August 14 but the fight was cancelled.
The last time two Filipino boxers participated in World title matches was in 2018 when Jerwin Ancajas defended his IBF super flyweight title against Jonas Sultan. Nevertheless, the Nonito Donaire vs John Casimero fight will be the first time that two Filipino champions will enter the ring to unify their world titles.
