Numbers Dip For Jermall Charlo Showtime Return

Jermall Charlo’s first defense as undisputed WBC middleweight champion would draw a lower than expected audience on June 29th, as it would dip lower than his last appearance on Showtime.

Per Nielsen Media Research, a peak audience of 434,000 people would tune into see Charlo’s unanimous decision win over Brandon Adams from the NRG Arena in Houston, with an average audience of 379,000 viewers.

Charlo would last box on Shotwime last spring, dropping Hugo Centeno Jr. to win the interim WBC middleweight title in-front of an average audience of 545,000 viewers on the Jesse Vargas-Adrian Broner undercard.

Charlo and Adams would also go up against DAZN’s WBO middleweight title fight where Demetrius Andrade would go the distance to defeat Maciej Sulecki. It is unknown by how much the Charlo card was affected by the DAZN card, due to DAZN not releasing viewership numbers.
