Nunes To Join Invicta Front Office

UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes has added a new role to her professional resume, as she is the newest member of Invicta FC’s athlete development team.

In a press release sent out on Thursday, Nunes, who fought for Invicta, will be assisting in matchmaking and scouting talent in Brazil and the U.S. Southeast. Nunes who lives and trains in Florida is a native of Brazil.

“I’ve known and worked with Amanda for a long time, going all the way back to our Strikeforce days,” Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp said. “She was already part of the Invicta family, but now it’s official; now it’s on paper.

“I can’t think of a better ambassador for the sport and our organization.”

Nunes is one considered to be one of the best pound-for-pound women’s fighters in the world. In her most recent fight, Nunes defeated Valentina Shevchenko by split decision to retain at UFC 215 in September.

Now, in addition to being a UFC champ, she’ll be looking to build the future of Women’s MMA as a member of the Invicta office.

“I’ve been very fortunate throughout my career to fight for the best organizations in the world,” Nunes said. “In my new position, I hope to be able to use my experience as a fighter and a champion to help groom the next generation. I’m honored to be a part of their journey at Invicta.”

Nunes is in Kansas City this week for Invicta FC 27, and will be overseeing fighters as they weigh-in and face off Friday, the release stated.

Invicta 27 takes place Saturday night and airs on UFC Fight Pass. Former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman takes on Pannie Kianzad in the main event.
