Odell Beckham Takes Inspiration from McGregor
When Conor McGregor knocked out Eddie Alvarez at Madison Square Garden to win the lightweight belt, the camera panned to a well-known New York figure in the crowd: Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The NFL star’s arms were folded across his chest as he shook his head. His reaction led fans to believe he was upset with the result of UFC 205’s main event.
As it turns out, Beckham was simply left speechless in his admiration of McGregor’s accomplishment.
The Giants star met McGregor after the fight, posing for a photograph with him that he posted on Instagram alongside McGregor’s now famous post-fight line:
Beckham also mentioned his respect for McGregor on Twitter after the event, which was the first UFC card the football star has ever attended:

On Monday night, Beckham led the Giants to a hard-fought victory over the Cincinatti Bengals. After the game, one of his best performances of the season, Beckham said that he took inspiration from what he witnessed at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
“I wanted some late inspiration so I went to the UFC fight the other night to see Conor McGregor,’’ Beckham told the New York Post. “He believes so much in himself and he backs up everything he says. I like to see other (athletes) in their environment, like when I go to the U.S. Open tennis. I like to other athletes in their zone.
“I had never been to a UFC fight before and I definitely got a lot of inspiration from (McGregor). I met him after the fight. It was a fun experience.’’
