Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua Kick Off Fight Week With Open Workouts And Face-Off

Fight week is finally here.

Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua kicked off fight week of their rematch with an open media workout on Tuesday.

Usyk said he’s happy that fight night is almost here. When asked if he learned anything from Joshua in the first fight, he replied:

“I’ve been watching him for ten years already.”

On the other side, Joshua said he’s learned from their first fight, but “it’s all about what happens on the night.”

Usyk shocked the boxing world when he upset Joshua in front of the Brit’s home crowd by winning by unanimous decision in September 2021. The Ukrainian was a huge underdog, but was able to outbox his opponent, ultimately stripping him of his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles.

Joshua triggered the rematch clause shortly after his loss, but it was unclear if it would happen after Usyk returned to Ukraine and joined a territorial battalion to defend the country from Russia’s invasion.

Eventually, Usyk was able to leave the country to begin training camp. The match was originally scheduled for July, but was pushed back to Saturday.

They will meet in a headliner in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
