Usyk shocked the boxing world when he upset Joshua in front of the Brit’s home crowd by winning by unanimous decision in September 2021. The Ukrainian was a huge underdog, but was able to outbox his opponent, ultimately stripping him of his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles.
Joshua triggered the rematch clause shortly after his loss, but it was unclear if it would happen after Usyk returned to Ukraine and joined a territorial battalion to defend the country from Russia’s invasion.
Eventually, Usyk was able to leave the country to begin training camp. The match was originally scheduled for July, but was pushed back to Saturday.
They will meet in a headliner in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
