Oleksandr Usyk has ‘surprisingly’ called out Conor McGregor for a boxing match.
The unified heavyweight champion is currently preparing to face Daniel Dubois on August 26th, 2023.
While that may be the case, Usyk was asked to comment on Tyson Fury following news of his bout with Francis Ngannou on October 28th, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
That is when the Ukrainian expressed his desire to fight Fury and gave a tongue-in-cheek comment about McGregor.
“I have no ambitions besides one ambition – it’s to fight Tyson Fury. I saw that Conor McGregor put some significant weight on his body. Hey Conor, why don’t we make a fight at Wembley?” Usyk
McGregor is no stranger to the boxing ring. The ‘Notorious’ faced Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017 in a mega-crossover fight.
While he did end up getting stopped in the tenth-round, McGregor walked away with a reported $100 million.
But any chances of a McGregor-Usyk fight happening are non-existent at the moment.
McGregor has been away from combat sports since 2021 following his loss to Dustin Poirier, while Usyk’s ambitions lie at becoming undisputed. So this is one fight that may be a stretch too far.
