Oleksandr Usyk Names Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarez His Next Potential Opponents
Oleksandr Usyk (20-0 13 KOs) is not done yet after giving Britain’s Anthony Joshua a run for his money twice in a row and donning the unified heavyweight championship straps.
In an interview conducted by Parimatch, the Ukrainian star has outlined his plans before he decides to hang his gloves.
Usyk explained that he’d like to take the rest of the year off, but will ideally like to return to the ring against two-time world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury (32-0-1 23 KOs).
Despite a massive difference between their weight classes, Usyk later wants to take on Saul “Canelo” Alvarez as well wherein he can pocket a hefty purse.
“I can fight three more times (at my peak),” Usyk said. “It’s a realistic perspective of my top form. … After my bout (with Anthony Joshua) I can fight three more times at my best.
“(I want fights) with Fury, Canelo, and the farewell fight at Olympiyskyi. Yes, with Canelo. He wanted to fight with me. But it will be a ‘freak’ fight, just for the sake of earning money.”
Usyk explained that Fury may have dominated in most of his fights and has an undefeated career but this doesn’t intimidate him.
“Despite his toughness and how he is generally described, he is afraid (of me),” he said.
“I will not support neither (Fury nor Joshua in their matchup against one another). I won’t even watch this fight, don’t want to. OK, just joking (chuckles). I will even go to watch live how they will throw punches at each other.
“Honestly, I don’t think about them at all. Want to know what I’m really thinking about? I want to see my children, hug and kiss them. That’s all I’m thinking about.”
