Oliveira Calls For Gaethje 3-Belt Rematch

Charles Oliveira (37-11, 1 NC) is calling for a rematch against Justin Gaethje (28-5).

They fought at UFC 274 in Phoenix in May 2022, when Oliveira submitted Gaethje in the first round with a rear-naked choke. Oliveira had won the lightweight title the previous year by finishing Michael Chandler in the second round, but he missed weight for the Gaethje fight and was stripped of the championship.

Gaethje has lost just once since the Oliveira fight, a last-second knockout to Max Holloway. He rebounded with decision wins over Rafael Fiziev and Paddy Pimblett before defeating Ilia Topuria to win the lightweight title at UFC Freedom 250.

Oliveira, meanwhile, has won his last two fights, submitting Mateusz Gamrot with a face crank and defeating Max Holloway by decision to win the BMF title. He believes that run puts him ahead of other contenders for a shot at Gaethje.

Oliveira is willing to put his BMF belt on the line if Gaethje puts up the lightweight championship and the special UFC Freedom 250 belt he received following his White House victory.

“There’s nowhere to run,” Oliveira said. “I said two [belts] and the internet went, ‘Not two, it’s three! It’s the White House, the lightweight and the BMF.’ So, okay, put all three [on the line], there’s no problem at all.”
