Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson Set For MMA Debut

2020 Olympic wrestling gold medalist Gable Steveson is set to make his MMA debut at LFA 217 on September 12 against Braden Peterson in Minnesota.

The debut comes after Steveson was released from the WWE’s developmental system in May 2024. After his release, he returned to college wrestling for a final year where he won 2 national champions for the university of Minnesota. However, he suffered an upset loss at the NCAA Wrestling National Championships against Wyatt Hendrickson. Steveson then began MMA training, as he helped Jon Jones prepare for his fight against Stipe Miocic.

The LFA is widely considered one of MMA’s top development organizations, having helped over 300 athletes transition to the UFC, including notable names like Sean O’Malley, Henry Cejudo, Kamaru Usman, Holly Holm and LFA women’s bantamweight champion Bia Mesquita, who makes her UFC debut on October 11.
