O’Malley Returns At UFC 248 Against Quinonez
After completing a six-month suspension sanctioned by USADA, Sean O’Malley is officially set to return to the octagon. The UFC announced that the 25-year-old will face Jose Quinonez at UFC 248 on March 7.

O’Malley (10-0) last fought in March 2018, beating Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 via unanimous decision. A series of drug tests have halted his career and the matches he wants. O’Malley was set to compete at UFC 229 in October of that year before initially testing positive for ostarine. Serving a six-month suspension, the supplement appeared to still be in his system.
USADA flagged him for another failed test, with out-of-competition samples displayed traces of ostarine. It was determined by USADA that the violation was a result of a tainted dietary supplement, with no intentional use displayed. The suspension was retroactive to August 2019.
With everything appearing to be good to go, O’Malley now has a chance to face 29-year-old Quinonez (8-3). “El Teco” won his last bout in September against Carlos Huachin via unanimous decision. He is 5-1 in his last six fights.
UFC 248 takes place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. The main event features Israel Adesanya defending his Middleweight Championship against Yoel Romero. The co-main event features Weili Zhang defending her Strawweight Championship against Joanna Jędrzejczyk.
