O’Malley Signed For UFC 239

Days after being handed a retroactive six-month suspension by USADA, Sean O’Malley has been signed to return at UFC 239.

According to ESPN, the popular young fighter is set to face off with Marlon Vera on July 6th, over a year after his win over Andre Souhamthath, that would send him into surgery for his right foot and hip.

O’Malley was on the road to a return to action late in 2018, but would fail two out-of-competition drug tests on September 5th and December 8th for ostarine. USADA would treat the two failed tests as a singular violation, as  the UFC’s anti-drug partner concluded the amounts found in both tests were consistent with ingestion prior to September 5th.

Vera is in the midst of a three fight win-streak, with a TKO win over Frankie Saenz in March being his most recent visit inside the Octagon.

O’Malley-Vera joins a massive card for International Fight Week that will be headlined by Jon Jones and Thiago Santos for the UFC light heavyweight title and Amanda Nunes defending her bantamweight title against Holly Holm.
