ONE Announces Fights For Alvarez, Lee, La N Sang
When the Infinity Series was announced by ONE Championship, there were promises of high-profile bouts. It looks like the company is coming through with their plans.
ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced on Facebook matches for the first two Infinity events. At ONE Infinity 1 on April 10 in Jakarta, Aung La N Sang will face Vitaly Bigdash in a trilogy bout. Both fighters have a win against one another.
La N Sang (26-10, 1NC) is on a seven-fight win streak. Following a loss to Bigdash at ONE: Quest for Power, La N Sang beat Bigdash in a rematch at Light of a Nation only five months later. He is currently the ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight Champion. Bigdash (10-2), is on a one-fight win streak, ending a two-fight skid that started with the second La N Sang bout.
Joining the card is Roman Kryklia v. Andrei Stoica for the formers ONE Kickboxing Light Heavyweight Championship. Already signed to the card is a ONE Flyweight Championship bout between champion Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson.
On May 29 in the Philippines is ONE Infinity 2, where Eddie Alvarez will make his ONE return against Saygid Arslanaliev. Alvarez (30-7-1) has had a very interesting run with ONE so far. He was eliminated in the opening round of the ONE Lightweight Grand Prix by Timofey Nastyukhin via TKO. He then re-entered the tournament as an alternate after beating Eduard Folayang, but left again due to an injury.
He faces Arslanaliev (8-2), who’s four-fight win streak was snapped at the hands of Christian Lee.
Speaking of Lee (13-3), he will defend his ONE Lightweight Championship against Iuri Lapicuș. Lee is on a four-fight win streak, while Lapicuș (14-0) has won two straight fights so far for ONE.
The main event for Infinity 2 is the previously announced ONE Heavyweight Title fight between Brandon Vera and Arjan Bhullar.
ONE Infinity Series 1 was originally set to take place in China, but was moved due to the coronavirus.
