ONE Championship is gearing up to make 2024 a landmark year.
The organization has announced plans to hold a record number of events, with a renewed focus on MMA, as per the organization’s CEO, Chatri Sityodtong. After being founded in 2011, ONE Championship has distinguished itself with a mixture of martial arts, including MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing. That has led ONE Championship to forge a strong presence in the Asian market. However, moving forward, the focus is on MMA, considering its growing global popularity.
“The next chapter of 2024 is going to be a record high number of events for us across all different martial arts, around the world in different locations. You’re going to see MMA back in full force,” Sityodtong
As of now, Sityodtong has disclosed that Christian Lee, the two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion, is set to defend his title in February. Meanwhile, Jarred Brooks, the current strawweight champion, is scheduled to face Joshua Pacio early next year. And as part of that process, Sityodtong outlined the aim of having events in the United States, Japan, and Qatar, as well as expanding into Europe.
“We have our U.S. stadium shows, we have Qatar, Japan, in the Philippines we have one or two shows. ONE Friday fights and the muay Thai product are very much on a firm footing now…The focus will be sharply back onto mixed martial arts,” Sityodtong
