ONE Fight Night 18: Preview And Livestream Info

Making their 2024 Amazon Prime debut, ONE Championship is preparing to deliver nine high level matchups this Friday with ONE Fight Night 18: Gasanov vs. Oh.

Live from the world-famous Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand, the card is set to feature nine bouts showcasing athletes disciplined in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and of course MMA.

Unfortunately, the originally planned main event, a 135-pound kickboxing title match between Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Elias Mahmoudi, was cancelled. Superlek has been scheduled to defend his title at ONE: 165 later this month in Tokyo versus Takeru Segawa.

Now, the main event will pit Dagestani freestyle wrestler Shamil Gasanov (13-1) versus South Korea’s Oh Ho “Spider” Taek (9-3) at 155-pounds, in what is sure to be an extremely competitive MMA matchup.

Coupled with his wrestling background, Gasanov has championship level Jiu-jitsu, and has used it to earn submission finishes in 9 of his 13 victories. Following his ONE debut in 2022, in which he submitted his opponent with a rear naked choke in just two minutes, “The Cobra” fell short when he met American Jiu-jitsu ace Garry Tonon (8-1). While Gasanov was able to hold his own for a period of time in the grappling exchanges, eventually Tonon caught him in a knee-bar, and the Russian was forced to submit.

Much like his Russian opponent, Oh Ho Taek is also looking to bounce back from a loss in his last outing. Back in March at ONE: Fight Night 8, “Spider” fell victim to a knockout courtesy of the undefeated Akbar Abdullaev, who is currently has 10 wins on his record, all by stoppage. In his ONE Championship debut, Oh was matched up with Japanese MMA veteran Ryogo Takahashi (14-7), and passed the test with flying colors, earning the split decision victory.

One of Oh Ho Taek’s most outstanding career highlights came back in April 2022, in his final bout before making the jump to ONE. Under the BRAVE Combat Federation banner, Oh dropped his opponent with a nasty counter left hook. He followed the hard shot up by controlling his opponent well on the ground, before maneuvering to full back control and locking in the rear naked choke.

Despite the main event being as exciting as it is, to overlook the bouts that are set to precede it would be an absolute crime. Whether you are a fan of MMA, Muay Thai or Kickboxing, ONE Fight Night 18 has something for everyone.
