One Year Later: Alexis Espino’s Boxing Journey

When it comes to investing in young talent, Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing appear to know what they are doing. They see something special in Alexis Espino, who turned professional in February 2019. Since then, he has won all six of his fights.

Espino fought twice in 2020. He took out Vincent Baccus via TKO in January and beat Delvecchio Savage via unanimous decision at the end of February. Via the above video, Matchroom has highlighted his journey. With advice from some of the top boxers out there, Hearn and anyone that he will listen to, the 20-year-old Espino is ready to take over.

“I never fought without headgear in the amateurs, so everybody back at RBG were like, ‘it’s way different, man. It’s dangerous.’ They were trying to mess with me,” Espino stated. “It feels way better without having that headgear, nothing bothering you. It felt really good, you know? I loved it, I can’t wait for the next one.”
