Opponent Set For Hager At Bellator 221

Bellator has set up former WWE champion Jake Hager’s return to the Bellator cage on May 11th, as the former Jack Swagger will face T.J. Jones at Bellator 221.

Hager was announced as one of the first fighters signed for Bellator’s return to the Chicago area, for the DAZN only event from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Aside from his glory in the WWE, Hager would become an All-American while wrestling for the University of Oklahoma, and is 1-0 as a pro fighter, defeating J.W. Kiser by submission in January at Bellator 214.

For Jones, this will mark his first fight in over a year, when he submitted Erick Braly in October 2017. The 29-year old will more likely have not only the age advantage over the 37-year old Hager, but a weight advantage, as he weighed in at 265 pounds in his last fight, as Hager weighed 238 pounds in January.

Hager and Jones join a card headlined by Michael Chandler defending his lightweight championship against current featherweight champion Patricio Freire, and a welterweight Grand Prix semi-final fight between Michael Page and Douglas Lima.
