Ortiz-Kauffman Nearly Set For Wilder-Fury

With Dillian Whyte no longer on the table, Luis Ortiz is near a deal to put him on the undercard of Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury’s heavyweight showdown on December 1st.

According to Jay Jimenez, manager of the Cuban heavyweight, Travis Kauffman will be Ortiz opponent at Staples Center for the Showtime Pay-Per-View broadcast.

“Luis has already agreed to terms,” Jimenez told BoxingScene.com. “We are just waiting for a call back but it’s 99% done.”

Ortiz nearly won the WBC world heavyweight title earlier this year, as he would nearly finish Deontay Wilder this past March at Barclays Center, but would fall to the Bronze Bomber in the 10th round.

Ortiz would bounce back in July, knocking out Rozvan Cojanu in the second round.

Kauffman has been less active that he Cuban, with only one fight in 2017, and one fight in 2019, a majority decision victory over Scott Alexander.
