Oscar De La Hoya Reacts To Reported Garcia Vs. Benn Fight

Oscar De La Hoya has insisted that any fight between Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) and Conor Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) cannot happen without Golden Boy Promotions’ involvement — and says his company has not even been contacted about the reported September 12th bout.

“I have yet to be approached about making this fight. We signed a two-fight deal for Ryan with the Saudis last year. The first fight was with Barrios, and apparently the Saudis have chosen Conor Benn to be Ryan’s next opponent,” De La Hoya

He then took a pointed shot at Zuffa’s pulling power in the US market, claiming Paramount is chasing a Garcia fight precisely because the promotion’s own events have failed to generate meaningful numbers. De La Hoya insists Garcia remains under contract with Golden Boy, and that no deal can be completed without the promotion’s sign-off.

“There are contracts in place. You can’t just do whatever you want here in America. There are laws and legally binding contracts. You can’t put fights on any network you want,” De La Hoya
