Oscar De La Hoya Reminds Eddie Hearn He’s Not Dmitry Bivol’s Promoter; Bivol-Ramirez Will Happen

Oscar De La Hoya is making sure Gilberto Ramirez gets his title shot.

De La Hoya told TV Boxeo that he’s negotiating with WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol’s manager, Vadim Kornilov, to ensure that Bivol goes through with the WBA’s order to fight Ramirez.

Even though promoter Eddie Hearn said that they were going to file an application for Bivol to face Joshua Buatsi in October, and then face Ramirez.

“Eddie Hearn is not Bivol’s promoter, I am working with Bivol’s manager [Vadim Kornilov], that fight is going to be negotiated, it is going to be done,” De La Hoya said.

Ramirez, a former super middleweight world champion, has been asking for a title shot for the last two years. But he officially secured his right when he knocked out Dominic Boesel in the fourth round of their WBA final eliminator.

Bivol, meanwhile, is coming off of a career-best win over Canelo Alvarez in May. Bivol stopped Alvarez in his quest to become a five-weight champion.

“I am excited that Zurdo Ramírez finally has his chance, the one that he’s been waiting for, and he is more than ready to beat Bivol and to gain revenge for Canelo and for Mexico,” De La Hoya added.
