Oscar De La Hoya Set To Make His Boxing Return On July 3

Oscar De La Hoya will be going through with his comeback plans.

De La Hoya has been saying that he plans to get back inside the boxing ring at some point in the near future. As it turns out, he has a date but not an opponent yet.

During a press conference for Triller’s Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren event, it was announced that De La Hoya will be back inside the ring on July 3. An opponent wasn’t named but De La Hoya will be working with Triller.

Triller CEO Ryan Kavanaugh said that the fight will be in Dallas, Texas and that he’s currently hoping De La Hoya can be matched up against a major name in the UFC.

“He has been [training] and in his own words, he’s stronger and better than ever,” Kavanaugh said.

Back in October 2020, De La Hoya told fans during an Instagram live stream that he isn’t interested in fighting low-level competition.

“I really am considering making a comeback. I have been training. I seriously feel incredible. I feel amazing. With me, I always fought the very best, and why not? If I make the comeback in the first quarter of next year, by the way, I have slimmed down 20 pounds, it’s going to be against the very best, like always.

“None of this ducking fighters like the way fighters duck everyone today. They make it impossible because they price themselves out. It’s a huge problem … George Foreman did it, and I think I can do it as well … I feel like a million, million bucks. It’s crazy.”

ESPN is reporting that De La Hoya has signed a multi-fight deal with Triller.
