O’Shaquie Foster Dominates Rey Vargas To Earn WBC World Super Featherweight Title

Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, O’Shaquie Foster came out looking like a veteran in his first world title fight, and defeated Rey Vargas to earn the WBC 130-pound championship belt.

To make the moment even more significant, Foster did the unthinkable, as this was the first defeat that Vargas’ has suffered in his 37 fight career.

Foster performed like a champion should with the speed and counters he displayed. On several occasions, he just seemed to be a step ahead of his opponent, and he made Vargas pay because of this.

The defensive shoulder rolling and strategic punching that Foster put on display in front of his home state crowd was quite simply on another level, and Vargas was unable to find any holes in his game to exploit.

Through this fight, Foster has improved his overall record to 20-2 and has not lost in 10 fights.

In the post fight press conference, Foster explained his has big plans in the 130-pound division.
