OSP-Rothwell Reportedly Set For May 13 In Jacksonville
A new weight class will be housing Ovince Saint Preux as he makes his return to the octagon.
Heading to Jacksonville on May 13th will be a heavyweight bout featuring Saint Preux and Ben Rothwell. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani the first to report the news.
After spending his whole career as a light heavyweight, Saint Preux (24-13) will be looking to test his luck. OSP won his last fight back in September against Michal Oleksiejczuk, using the Von Flue choke to submit his opponent. That ended a two-fight losing streak dating back to October 2018. He was originally supposed to face Ion Cutelaba on April 25, but due to travel restrictions, Cutelaba will not be able to get into the United States.
Rothwell, (37-12) is also on a one-fight win streak. Back in December, “Big Ben” beat Stefan Struve via TKO in a controversial affair that saw Struve get hit below the belt twice. The win snapped a three-fight losing streak. When UFC 249 was originally in Brooklyn, Rothwell was meant to face Gian Villante.
The May 13 event will be one of several events taking place inside the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Florida. The main event of that fight card is set to be Anthony Smith v. Glover Teixeira.
