O’Sullivan Added To Canelo-GGG 2 Undercard

After being considered to be the opponent for Canelo Alvarez on September 15th, Spike O’Sullivan has been added to the undercard for Alvarez’ highly anticipated rematch against Gennady Golovkin.

Prior to Alvarez testing positive twice for clenbuterol in February of this year, Sullivan was considered to be the Mexican superstar’s next opponent after the initial May 5th rematch against Gennady Golovkin.

Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez said during an interview on Tuesday’s episode of the The Boxing Beat, that O’Sullivan will be in a featured fight on the card.

“O’Sullivan is definitely going to be on and we’re working on the opponent now,” Gomez told ESPN.

“There are a couple of big names that we’re looking at but we want to make a significant fight with O’Sullivan. I don’t know what the GGG side is going to do (with its undercard fight) but we want to do a world title fight as well on the undercard. So there are some other fights we’re looking at.”

David Lemieux may be the next fight for the 33 year old O’Sullivan, “Let’s go Spike,” Lemieux tweeted to O’Sullivan. “You wanted to fight me. I’m here. Don’t chicken out. Let’s give the fans a fight for September.”
