Otto Wallin, Andy Ruiz Jr Possible Opponents For Joseph Parker
Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker hasn’t made an appearance in a professional bout since toppling his British rival, Derek Chisora last winter.
Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) is itching to get back to the ring as he feels that he is in the prime of his professional boxing career and that he doesn’t want to get it wasted without accomplishing anything significant in the sport.
Parker, now a Morecambe, Lancashire resident, recently signed a promotional agreement with BOXXER and Sky Sports. And with this consensus, the pugilist is hopeful that he will finally share the ring with the boxing’s biggest names that he has been after for so long.
Following the battering of Chisora, Parker was heavily linked to a fight with Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce, but the negotiations fell apart as Parker signed the contract with Sky Sports.
Joyce is promoted by Queensbury promotions owner, Frank Warren who has an exclusive broadcasting deal with Sky’s rival, BT Sport.
Parker’s new promoter, Ben Shalom believes that he is very close to getting the 30-year-old the biggest fight of his career so far.
In a recent media interaction, he shared that the rising top-contender Otto Wallin could be the next possible opponent for Parker.
“We are still hopeful of the Dillian Whyte rematch and Joe Joyce fight for him, but we have had an offer for him to fight Otto Wallin,” Shalom told Mirror Fighting.
But if that fight doesn’t happen, Parker could see himself facing former WBC titlist Deontay Wilder or the Mexican Heavyweight, Andy Ruiz Jr.
“It is another thing we are considering, he would also like the fights with Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz. He wants to fight anyone and everyone but the end of September or early October he will be fighting,” added Shalom.
“We are still hopeful of making the fights we identified at the start and we think Joseph is going to perform very well on Sky. We think that one of these fights will be announced in the next couple of weeks.”
