Otto Wallin Calls For Rematch With Tyson Fury
Otto Wallin wants to have another scrap with Tyson Fury.
Fury is the WBC Heavyweight Champion. “The Gypsy King” captured the gold back on February 22 against Deontay Wilder. Fury scored the seventh-round TKO.
In the fight before his rematch with Wilder, Fury had a tough outing against Wallin. “The Gypsy King” won the fight via unanimous decision but it wasn’t easy. This was the first loss in Wallin’s pro boxing career.
Fury was expecting to meet Wilder in a trilogy bout on December 19. “The Gypsy King” has said he’s “moved on” from the bout and is pushing for a return on December 5 in London, England. Wallin is now calling for a rematch with Fury for the WBC gold (via Boxing News 24/7).
“I deserve a rematch based on my performance against Fury last year. I did much better against Fury than Wilder did, better than anybody who has faced Fury and I’m ready to take Wilder’s place. I’ve been working very hard since last year and I believe I’ve improved with the experience from fighting Fury and with all the work I’ve put in since that fight.”
Wallin bounced back from the loss to Fury back on August 15. He stopped Travis Kauffman via fifth-round TKO. It was Wallin’s 21st pro boxing win and his 13th victory via knockout.
Whether or not Fury is willing to accept a rematch with Wallin remains to be seen. Queensberry Promotions’ Frank Warren is hoping to have Fury face a top-15 heavyweight in the WBC rankings inside the Royal Albert Hall.
