Overeem Pays Tribute To Hari
Hari And Overeem Have Fought Three Times Over More Than Three Decades
The two behemoths clashed for a third time last Saturday at Glory Kickboxing‘s Collision 4 event, making it one of the most entertaining trilogies in Kickboxing history.
In several interviews leading up to the fight, Overeem stated that he liked Hari and wouldn’t mind to sit down and have a coffee, and talk about life in general after the fight. Yesterday Overeem showed that he is true to his words by making an official invitation to Hari via Instagram – click on the picture above to see the actual post.
Hari and Overeem first met in the Kickboxing ring in Japan at the Dynamite 2008 event – K-1‘s New Year’s Eve event.
Overeem knocked Hari out with a left hook in the first round – see video below:
They would fight again almost a year later in the semi final at the K-1 World Grand Prix Final in Tokyo Dome, Japan on December 5th 2009. Hari turned the tables and demolished Overeem in the first round by TKO (Referee stoppage due to two knockdowns) – see video below:
The hyped Collision 4 event happened last Saturday at the GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands, where the two Kickboxing kings faced off for the third time in their careers.
Tensions were high, the stadium was packed to capacity and millions were biting their nails in front of their TVs worldwide – it was intense!
Overeem hadn’t fought in Kickboxing for more than ten years, due to a great career in MMA with promotions such as DREAM, PRIDE FC, Strikeforce and the UFC.
Hari had seen ups and downs over the last 20 years.
Both guys had matured – it was clear during all the media coverage the fight got. They were ready.
It was a three-rounder with most people thinking that Overeem lost the first two rounds, but having a strong, tight-knit corner crew is vital, and Overeem came out for the final round all guns blazing, and knocked the bewildered Hari down several times and won their trilogy fairy tale via knockout – see video below:
