Pacquiao Aims To KO Broner
Manny Pacquiao has his eyes set on being the first man to knock out Adrien Broner, when the two face off for the WBA “regular” welterweight title on January 19th.
“I am not making a prediction, but my goal is to knock out Broner,” Pacquiao said during a training session at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club leading up to fight night.
“I am looking for a knockout against Broner. I have to maximize the opportunity. I forgot how much fun winning a fight by knockout was until I stopped Lucas Matthysse last summer to win the WBA welterweight title. It felt great to win that way and the fans loved it, too, so why not try for it again?”
With three losses, one draw, and one no-contest on him, Broner has yet to hit the canvas in his ten-year pro career. While Broner had been dropped twice by Marcos Maidana when they faced off in 2013, Broner would get up to take a unanimous decision loss at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
“I have nothing personal against Adrien Broner,” Pacquiao said of the former world champion. “This fight is strictly business. He is fun. He makes me laugh. He knows how to sell himself and to sell a fight.”
