Pacquiao Announces A Mayweather Rematch

Manny Pacquiao says he will rematch Floyd Mayweather after an announcement at RIZN 45.

Their first fight occurred in 2015 as Pacman came out second best to Mayweather in a one-sided unanimous decision defeat. The fight resonated with the boxing fanbase, selling 4.4 million PPVs. But Manny’s performance failed to live up to the expectations on him, as Mayweather kept him at bay by boxing on the outside.

After the fight, Pacquiao claimed he injured his shoulder. The boxer would have surgery after the defeat. A rematch had been discussed for some time, and now it appears it could occur. The fight is likely to be an exhibition, given their age. Mayweather is 46, while Pacquiao is 45. During his appearance at RIZN, Manny confirmed the following.

“Fight against Floyd Mayweather next year?” Rizin CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara:
“Yeah, thank you so much for inviting me here again. I’m sorry for the last time that we promised that we’re going to fight this year. Next year I’m going to see you in Japan, again big fight against. Floyd Mayweather. Floyd Mayweather, yeah. I thought that you didn’t want me to say that. But I am excited about that. Thank you for always supporting Rizin and Sakakibara,” Manny Pacquiao
