Pacquiao-Horn to Be Finalized This Week

An opponent for Manny Pacquiao’s next fight has been up in the air for the past few months, with Australia’s Jeff Horn the initial pick before rumors of a fight with Amir Khan materialized. Now it appears, that Horn will indeed be selected as the Filipino’s legend next opponent.

Ring TV confirmed with Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz that a deal was close to done for a Pacquiao vs. Horn fight on July 2.

“We are finalizing the terms,” Koncz told Ring TV, adding that the deal "should be finalized by the end of the week."

Earlier this week, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said that Pacquiao would have to make his decision quickly because the Australian backers that would finance the fight have already committed their money. The fight will likely take place at  the Suncorp Stadium in Horn’s hometown of Brisbane, Australia.

Pacquiao last fought in November, when he beat Jessie Vargas to win the WBO welterweight title.

The fight against Horn was supposed to be put together for an April date, but it fell through when Pacquiao instead chased a fight against Amir Khan in the United Arab Emirates.
