Pacquiao Looks to Show Thurman That 40 “Isn’t Old”
Even with an emphatic knockout of Lucas Matthysse and a unanimous decision victory over Adrien Broner, Manny Pacquiao believes some critics see the Filipino Senator as over the hill.
“I think after this fight everybody will be satisfied and convinced that Manny Pacquiao is still there,” Pacquiao told Boxing Scene in regards to his July 20th showdown against Keith Thurman.
“Keith Thurman is different than Adrien Broner. Thurman is a fighter who’s aggressive, and he’s undefeated.”
“I showed them that at the age of 40 I can still fight,” Pacquiao said of his two 2018 victories.
“That’s the message. Forty years old, for me, is still young. It’s not old. Because it just so happened that when you have the belt at age 35, you become lazy and your work is not the same as when you are young. But me, as a person, it’s different. I love working out, I love exercise and even at the age of 40, I don’t feel like 40. They think 40 is old. No, for me, 40 isn’t old.”
