Pacquiao-Matthysse Postponed To July

It seems the rumored WBA welterweight title fight between Lucas Matthysse and Manny Pacquiao has suffered a setback.

The fight which since it’s announcement has had controversy surrounding it, has been moved from the original date of June 24th, to the new date of July 8th, per a report by the Manilla Bulletin newspaper.

The reason the fight has been postponed is due to the Muslim festival of Ramadan, which is from May 16th to June 14th.

Per the report, the press conference announcing the fight officially has been moved back to April 11th from April 4th.

Drama has been abound since the announcement of this fight, mainly around Pacquiao’s contractual status with Top Rank, who claim the Filipino fighter is still under contract, while Pacquiao’s team claim that his contract ended with his July 2017 loss to Joe Horn.
